Simone Post a.k.a. The Post Office

Simone Post (*1990) is a multidisciplinary maker with roots in textiles, based in Rotterdam. Growing up, she was surrounded by sewing machines to play around with, as her mother conducted sewing classes at home. She graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven with honors in 2015 and ever since has won numerous national and international awards. Simone’s atelier serves as a sanctuary for experimentation and creation with textiles as her ultimate muse.

This can find it’s materialization in various outcomes, such as refurbished and ‘reupholstered’ knob chairs, alienating soft cabinets, pleated ceramics or marshmallow twisted window frames. Post’s work delves deep into color, texture, and print. Her works breath colour and optimism but at the same time are always asking substantive questions. Her work is a testament to the potential of materials, demonstrating that with dedication, craftsmanship, and a sense of wonder, it’s possible to turn seemingly ordinary materials into something extraordinary.

She has a portfolio of projects, collaborating with esteemed companies such as Vlisco, Kvadrat, Adidas, and Hermès, yet she is ultimately driven by a profound inner compulsion to create her own highly coveted objects.

Her work has been exhibited worldwide from Brasil, China, Italy, India, US, Europe and has been acquired by multiple museums, including the Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein, the Centraal Museum, Utrecht, MAD Paris and the Cooper Hewitt, New York
