SIMONE POST (1990, The Netherlands) is a visual artist whose practice is rooted in textiles and material experimentation. Based in Rotterdam and Schiedam, she grew up surrounded by sewing machines as her mother taught sewing classes at home—an environment that fostered an early and intuitive engagement with fabric, craft processes, and the expressive potential of materials. Post graduated with honors from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2015.

Despite an educational background associated with applied arts, her practice has from the beginning aligned with fine art, grounded in a reflective investigation of how we inhabit and interpret the (material) world around us. While deeply engaged with materials and our relationship to the objects around us, her work is not concerned with designing functional objects. Her studio operates as a space for sculptural and conceptual exploration, where textiles remain both medium and catalyst. At the same time, her work is a celebration of the physical world—of the joy of making with one’s hands, using very simple analogue techniques, tactility, and the intimate knowledge that emerges through craft. Through installations, spatial interventions, and material-based research, Post explores themes of memory, transformation, decay, lasting and the emotional resonance embedded in crafted forms.

This manifests in a wide range of outcomes, including mesmerizing wall tapestries, “reupholstered” knob chairs, alienating soft columns, pleated ceramics, and marshmallow-twisted window frames. Post’s work delves deeply into color, texture, and pattern. Her pieces breathe color and optimism while simultaneously posing substantive questions.

Her inexhaustible drive to create results in highly sought-after works, shaping her own fantastical and craft-rich universe, seemingly ordinary materials can be transformed into something extraordinary.

Her work has been exhibited internationally—including in Brazil, Kyiv (2026), Venice Art Biennale (2026), China, Italy, India, the United States, and across Europe—and has been acquired by multiple institutions, including the Vitra Design Museum (Weil am Rhein), the Centraal Museum (Utrecht), MAD Paris, the Cooper Hewitt (New York), and Museum Voorlinden (Wassenaar).
