SIMONE POST (1990, The Netherlands) is a Rotterdam-based visual artist whose work explores the impermanence of life. Post transforms everyday materials into sculptural works that invite us to look again. Through sculptural installations and material-based works, she reflects on change and the beauty of embracing what cannot be held onto. Underlying her practice is the belief that life is an ongoing lesson in letting go. Rather than resisting uncertainty, Post sees life as a continuous process of working with what is already there—our history, our stuff and the traces that time leaves behind.
Textiles form the foundation of her visual language. Growing up surrounded by sewing machines as her mother taught sewing classes at home, she developed an early fascination with fabric, colour, texture, and the expressive possibilities of making by hand. She graduated with honours from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2015.
She is particularly drawn to materials whose impermanence is self-evident—such as marshmallows—or those that have already lived a previous life and are often regarded as waste. Instead of disguising their vulnerability or perceived uselessness, she embraces both, revealing new value in what already exists. Her work reminds us that nothing stays the same, and that it is precisely this transience that makes life precious.
Almost all the materials Post works with are soft. Softness, in the broadest sense, lies at the heart of her practice. In an increasingly hard and fast world—shaped by consumption and the pursuit of permanence—her work champions softness, vulnerability, tactility, and care.
This approach has resulted in a diverse body of work, including monumental textile tapestries, reupholstered Knob Chairs, soft architectural columns, pleated ceramics, marshmallow-twisted window frames, and chandeliers.
Post’s work has been exhibited internationally, including in Kyiv, Ukraine (2026), at the Venice Biennale (2026), Museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar, in Brazil, China, India, the United States, and across Europe. Her work is held in museum, institutional, and private collections worldwide.
